INCLEMENT WEATHER:
Dual Meets: Run the meet for as long as it is safely possible.
Championship Meet: Run all first heats than move on to the other heats (run scoring heats than move on to 3rd).
ORDER OF EVENTS:
Medley Relay, Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle and Free Relay
AGE GROUPS: 8’s, 10’s, 12’s, 14’s and 16’s
Whatever age you are on June 1st of the season year, you will swim in that age group or higher for that season. This policy is done on honesty!!
NUMBER OF SWIMS:
- Maximum swims per swimmer- 4
- A swimmer can swim in the same event in 2 different age groups by swimming “up”.
- Swimmers in 8’s, 10’s, 12’s and 14’s: Max 3 individual
Swimmers in 16’s: Max 4 individuals if there are no relays (3 max individuals with relays).
LANE ASSIGNMENTS:
Away team chooses lanes.
SCORING:
TEAMS CAN NOT SWEEP IN THE RELAYS- ribbons awarded as placed, but score is recorded 12-2 relays
TIES:
In case of a tie, the combined score will be added and divided in half. The following place will then be skipped. Ribbons (higher place) will be awarded to both swimmers/teams.
Judges Responsibilities:

Home representative will arrange the coaches/judges meeting 5 minutes prior to the start to review general rules/expectations.
- Deciding the order of finish for each event.
- Deciding if the strokes are executed properly in the 12’s, 14’s and 16’s. Improper finishes, illegal strokes will disqualify the swimmer. This must be witnessed by 2 officials for an individual or relay to be DQ’ed. Special consideration will be given to the 8’s and 10’s if they do not get some type of advantage.
- On the relay exchanges occurring in the shallow end of the pool, the swimmer waiting to go MUST have a hand touching the wall until the current swimmer finishes. IF the waiting swimmer “let’s go” prior to the current swimmer touching the wall the relay team will be DISQUALIFIED.
False Start:

On the false start, the swimmer and the coach will be informed of the violation.
- 2nd offense in an event will disqualify the swimmer in that event only.
Ribbon Presentation:
- Ribbons will be provided by the home team.
- Ribbons are awarded immediately after the event.
- Each team will provide at least 1 ribbon presenter.
- The swimmer must tell the ribbon table what event, lane and heat they were in.
- Ribbons are awarded to all heats.
Team Volunteers:
- Each team will provide at least 1 scorer.
- Each team will provide 2 judges. Away Team judges will also serve as false start judges.
- Home team will provide a starter.
Starter: Announces each event, followed by the heat and gives the command: “Swimmer’s step-up, take your mark,” followed by the whistle/starter beep.
Swimmer Eligibility:
All swimmers must be in 3 meets during the season to be able to compete in the LBISTL Championship meet. Special considerations may be given to a swimmer who has been injured during the season and by way of majority vote of the coaches.
LBI Championship Swim Meet:
The LBISTL & Coaches Meeting will be held on Monday before the championship meet. All topics for consideration will be discussed at that time.
LBISTL Roster Sheets are due on Tuesday at midnight immediately before the championship meet.
Championship Swim Meet:
- Cost of the judges, ribbons and program estimated for this year $200. Each member club must pay this fee to Haven Beach Club by July 31st of the swim season. Championship meet host club will be reimbursed for event related expenses submitted to the Haven Beach Club.
- 15-yard line on starts on proper backstroke finishes in the pool.
- Only coaches and swimmers in the event can be at the start and finish area.
- Only the first heat scores on relays.
- Section off seating and specific ribbon sections per age group for the Championship Meet.
